Painter - Sculptress - Storyteller
Halehhoo, her art and expressions are born from the sorrows and challenges, the delights and tears of womanhood, and her battle to break free from society’s constraints. It was during her struggle with breast cancer that she had a vision of her first painting. Upon transferring her vision onto the canvas, she found her voice and learned she can express her story through her paintings, sculptures and writing. Halehhoo was born in Iran and moved to the United States in 1979, after the Islamic Revolution. Caught between the two worlds and their traditions, she felt a duality between what is and what should be. Her expression has been tempered in the crucible of Persian-Iranian/American cultures, both lost and gained.
